To get the most out of your experience and to understand what goes into creating a custom portrait of your horse or dog, here is an overview of the process the artist uses. Marie encourages all of her potential clients to call or e-mail her to determine what materials she will need from them to develop their dream portrait.
The first step is establishing communication with the client to understand their vision for the portrait. Producing a fine art portrait of your horse (and rider) or dog takes time and dialogue between client and artist to ensure Marie understands perfectly the image you want portrayed.
After initial communications have taken place and Marie has an idea of her client’s vision for their portrait, she identifies what types of photographs will aid her most in rendering the specific vision, and requests these photos from the client.
Once the photographs are supplied to her and she has discussed which medium (oil, color pencil or pastel) would create the results her client desires, Marie provides each client a timeline for the project. These timelines are specific to the medium selected, how many pieces she has scheduled at the time, and of course, the client’s unique needs and deadlines. (It is important to note that oil paintings take at least a window of six weeks to dry appropriately for shipment.)
As soon as the timeline has been agreed upon, Marie begins rendering pencil sketches. She sends PDF files of her sketches to her clients so they can see the progression of their portrait. Upon completion of the sketch process, she begins work on the final portrait.
Please feel free to call or e-mail Marie so she can start creating your horse and rider or dog portrait today. She guarantees your satisfaction BEFORE you make your final payment, and ensures that each client gets exactly what they want. Ask her for full details of her guarantee when you call.
